Merakhi is a social innovation start-up working to combat sexual violence and harassment on college campuses through its patent-pending smart jewelry and educational programs and workshops. I am currently - working with elementary, middle, and high schools to offer educational assemblies and presentations on various topics in the realm of safety and mutual respect - conducting research on customer outreach, marketing, and college-based sexual harassment data- coordinating meetings with organizations and individuals for my team to gain more perspectives and insights to expand Merakhi

- Pilot study to evaluate a straight leg raise as a new screening tool for detecting spinal column fractures in blunt trauma patients. I read through radiology reports of patients who had been evaluated with a straight leg raise exercise and compiled a list of patients with identified fractures in the lumbar and thoracic Spines- Examining Patient Outcomes: Use of Antihypertensive Medications in Patients with Severe TBI: I read through medical charts and identified patients who had received neurological intervention within 6 hours of admission to the trauma department. I then extracted and compiled different data sets into organized charts.

Assess, treat, and manage patients with respiratory, cardiac, and trauma emergencies and transport them to medical facilities

200+ Hours - Witnessed patient-doctor interactions in the clinical/private practice setting- Recorded patient history and presented to the physician before examination- observed live colonoscopies and endoscopies at hospitals/medical centers

100+ Hours- Accompanied the attending and residents during patient arrivals in the trauma bay, learned about initial steps and procedures of examination, followed the attending during rounds in the ICU, learned to read radiology and ultrasound scans- witnessed surgical procedures including fasciotomy and organ procurement - learned about new medical terminology, various conditions and injuries, and common and infrequent procedures ranging from suturing to chest tube insertions.
