Teaching Assistant for Legal Writing & Analysis I.

During my summer of 2021, I interned with John Deere at The Federation of Southern Cooperatives/Land Assistance Fund for 12 weeks. Most of my time entailed researching property laws, intestacy laws, estate planning law, and heirs property case law using Lexis Nexis and Westlaw. In addition, I spent time conducting client intake forms via telecommunications and assisted with family mediations regarding heirs property issues. I also spent time organizing mobile wills clinics throughout the southern states, and assisted my supervising attorney with drafting legal documents including affidavits and wills. Lastly, I worked along side the Federation Director of Land Retention and Advocacy during the discovery process of the Federation’s Motion to Intervene in the Farmers’ Debt Relief Lawsuit.

During my summer of 2020, I interned at Carden & Tracy Law Firm for six weeks. Most of my time consisted of attending pre-trial hearings and depositions via telecommunications due to the pandemic. I composed and typed memorandums for the attorneys and clients. Also, Carden & Tracy was one of a few law firms apart of a COVID-19 task force for long-term care home facilities, and I was granted the opportunity of compiling data for exhibits relating to the preparation for COVID-19 litigations. The majority of my days consisted of researching and organizing hundreds of new articles, relevant case precedents, mayor and governor executive orders, and several Illinois Department of Public Health guidance for long-term care facilities.
