    Conducted 77 Lean Events since May of 2011. Events ranged from improving the visual aids throughout the plant to establishing autonomous maintenance program for the printing department. Printing, Cutting, and Finishing department conducted 2 to 4 Lean events per month. Support departments also conducted 1 to 2 Lean events per month as production schedule allowed.o In 2011, 135 employees participated in Lean events which are 53% of the plant. We were not able to meet the set goal of 80% participation due to late start in May and production demand.o Completed 2 six sigma projects and certified as a Black Belt in Dec 2012. First project was to increase uptime on gluer 6. The goal was set at 75% uptime, and the crew ended up with 76% uptime. Project also increased average NCPSH from 52,764 NCPSH to 70,161 NCPSH and decreased waste from 1.05% to 0.64%. Replacing the chain driven feed to bull nose feed enabled us to save $21,407 in parts.Estimated annualized cost savings= $102,462The second project was to increase uptime on cutter 2. Since focusing on uptime moved so many production needles, I decided to focus on the uptime as well. The results are below.From the corrected baseline of 69% uptime (including make ready time), there was a 7% uptime improvement. Total time saved 59.86 hours saving $5,381.00 which is an annualized savings of $64,573.00.The speed increased by from 2906 NSPSH to 3202 NSPSH. The increase in NSPSH produced additional 253,080 resulting in $96,170.00 savings.
