In this role, I work closely with the Chief of Staff to set strategic goals and make decisions for sound and efficient operational activities, including those impacting the new Congressional office. I oversee the Congressman’s schedule, monitor office security preparedness, manage expenditures, and maintain assets and inventory.Throughout the pandemic, I managed all COVID-related protocols, including staff communication, testing, compliance with vaccination requirements, and safety measures. I also developed and implemented telework, hybrid, and return-to-work policies and procedures. Administratively, I hire staff, develop and implement onboarding and offboarding procedures, and monitor and enforce HR policies.

During my tenure in this position, I assisted in establishing the campaign by completing candidacy paperwork, creating bank accounts, selecting and implementing campaign operations, and selecting the fundraising and compliance firm. I also managed office and administrative operations, the budget and expenditures, candidate scheduling, staff coordination, and advising on events.Additionally, I planned and executed financial functions, including reporting to the Federal Election Committee (FEC) and coordinated with the fundraising and compliance firm to ensure proper and timely reporting.Not only did I work closely with the Campaign Manager on communications, social media activities, and field operations, I also served as a direct liaison to the candidate for all events, meetings, and requests.

As Chief of Staff, I served several presidents as a key member of the Executive Team and contributed to the successful navigation of relations with internal and external stakeholders. I provided counsel and confidential advice on advocacy, policy, human resources, development, and succession planning. On the administrative side, I managed multimillion-dollar budgets and ensured all executive deliverables were met and exceeded expectations and established a culture of maximum engagement from the staff and Board.I also served as a designee of the President and CEO on high-profile internal governance matters, as the President’s liaison on several Board Committees, and as a key strategist and advisor to the Executive and Senior Leadership Teams, ensuring full alignment with the mission and vision of the NAACP. From a leadership perspective, I worked collaboratively with Human Resources leadership to implement effective talent acquisition and retention practices, meaningful team-building efforts, strong management development, rigorous office safety practices, and maintain excellent staff morale.Operationally, I provided “the big picture” analyses, and made strategic and tactical recommendations that ensured efficient global operations, I also coordinated the President and CEO’s participation in large-scale events, including the Annual Convention, Image Awards, Board Meetings, and employee events.I was very proud to be a key contributor in the creation of the WEB DuBois Intern/Fellowship Program, which included input on the recruitment and hiring processes and the program curriculum.
