The VCW researches, advocates and monitors legislation and policies that are important to women and families in Vermont. VCW also assists various policymakers with research on pertinent policy issues.

The Movement Politics Director is responsible for co-creating and building the movement-centered governing infrastructure that shifts power into the hands of the people — especially marginalized community members — at every level of government. This position works closely with Rights and Democracy staff, leaders, and allies to ensure that every aspect of our political and public policy work is grounded in the goal to achieve governing power through “movement co-governance”: co-governing with elected and appointed government officials who are ideologically aligned and with whom we can advance a shared analysis, vision, and agenda for structural change for economic, political, racial, and gender equity and organize broader alignments around that agenda.

The Just Transitions Subcommittee will develop principles to guide the work of the otherSubcommittees to ensure that the initiatives, programs and strategies necessary to achieve the State’s GHG emission reduction requirements and build resilience and climate adaptation of Vermont communities and natural systems support all residents of the State fairly andequitably. The Subcommittee will review the SOV Equity Impact Assessments as a starting place to inform the principles to guide this work, but will further consider job, economic and demographic impacts of various proposed recommendations set forth by other Subcommittees. Particular attention will be given to ensuring that climate policy is developed in a manner that is based on mutual respect and justice for all, free from any form of discrimination or bias.

In my capacity as the director of the statewide coalition, I developed strategy on the implementation and coordination of efforts of Act 1, or the Ethnic and Social Equity Standards Working Group bill. This included monitoring ADA and non-discriminatory procedures and practices, building collaborative partnerships across public and private sectors, I designed and managed the sizable search, interview and selection processes for 11 appointees to the newly formed Agency of Education working group established through Act 1. I also managed funding proposals, event management, communications, and other special projects for the coalition.

Within this employee/owner track role, I provide grant/ fundraising and crowdfunding initiative support; development of analytics-driven sales strategies; industry-specific outreach relationship management and communications plan implementation and analysis.

Committee Assignment: House Healthcare (2015), House Judiciary (2017)State of Vermont Judicial Nominating Board, Member (2017)Major Legislative Accomplishments 2014-2017• Contraceptive Access for All: I championed and secured a unanimously adopted policy that ensures all Vermonters have access to free or no-cost contraception with no impacts to the state budget.• Southern Vermont Economic Development Zone: Together with colleagues, we established a regional economic strategy that will put a focus on the needs of southern Vermont and bring funds to strengthen our region.• Dental Practitioner Bill: Five years in the making, I helped to champion a bill that establishes a new category of dental professional that will give greater access to dental care and professional opportunities for Vermonters. • Racial Justice Oversight Panel/Fair and Impartial Policing: I was a lead sponsor on two bills to ensure law enforcement is provided appropriate training and standardized policies to guide encounters with all Vermonters and eliminate bias against race, gender, disability or mental health in all encounters. In addition, we established a multi-member panel to review and provide recommendations on reforms in the criminal justice system to address racial discrimination. • Sexual Assault Bill of Rights, Statute of Limitations and No-Contact Orders: I was a lead sponsor on a trifecta of bills that established a sexual assault survivor’s bill of rights, removed statute of limitations for sexual assault victim reporting and closed a loophole that now requires no-contact orders be put in place at the time of an emergency relief from abuse/order of protection is granted by the courts.• PFOA: A resident asked the question, and I answered the call regarding industrial pollution of local waterways. This resulted in a massive cleanup effort, remediation and legal action to require full compensation from the polluters directly.

As the Director of the Alliance for Community Transformations community coalition I managed high-level coordination of state and federally grant-based initiatives focused on healthy community design projects and substance abuse prevention. This included full grant-management, project management, development of grassroots engagement, marketing and PR, and policy advocacy to municipal and state leadership. During my tenure, we secured 625K in federal grant revenues for a 5-year term to address substance abuse issues in the region.

The Development Associate was a contracted position with ALANE to coordinate logistics, increase revenue and participation in the Fight for Air: Climb the Bennington Monument stair climb fundraising event. This is a completely unique stair climb event, the only climb of a national monument in the United States. This effort was to revive an event that had declining revenues. That year saw a doubling of participation and 25% increase in revenues.

As a contracted consultant and project manager for Shires Housing, a regional affordable housing authority, I developed strategic planning and oversaw coordination of the participating organizations for the Support and Services at Home (SASH) programing in Bennington County. SASH provides wrap around medical services for primarily elderly individuals in a home-based setting with the goal of improving health outcomes. In addition, I managed the drafting and approval of MOU's between partner organizations and roll out efforts towards expansion of the SASH program to other areas within the county.

This position evolved from the Community Coordinator position with the Alliance for Community Transformations into a full-time, salaried appointment with the healthcare system. The goal of this position was to further SVHC’s strategic goals and community health improvement program in alignment with the goals of the Affordable Care Act and implementation plan through the coordination of the activities of their public health community coalition, public health advocacy, community engagement, policy research and presentations, academic symposium organization and coordination of community wellness programs.

As the Community Coordinator for the coalition formerly known as the Tobacco-Free Community Partners (12 active/15 at large members), I directed various programs, events and policy regarding public health for the Greater Bennington County Area. Within this capacity, I offered direct leadership to the coalition base, handled all budget management, work plan activity creation and implementation, grant management, marketing, public relations and state reporting. A major component of my job duties related to fostering ongoing collaborative opportunities with local schools, hospitals, government agencies, businesses and non-profits and linking individuals in the community with cessation-related resources.

This position was housed at and worked directly with the Vermont State Department for Children and Families to help in case management, plan development, training of staff, support group facilitation and court advocacy for their client base. I primarily served women and young mothers who self-identified as victims or survivors of domestic or sexual violence and worked with DCF case workers. Within that capacity, I served on the Advisory Board for the Bennington County Child Advocacy Center and Bennington Police Department Special Victims Unit. Additionally, I was a participating member of the Bennington County Integrated Unit Team and the Southern Vermont Domestic Violence Task Force; a collaboration between state and local law enforcement, corrections, Vermont State's Attorney's Office and the Vermont Department of Health to develop policy, case management procedures and general oversight for the county’s Integrated Domestic Violence Court processes.

I served as a strategic specialist/consultant for managers in preparation of quarterly business reviews, In-house subject matter expert for benchmark information and industry related news, data gathering and custom reporting development in conjunction with the Business Intelligence unit. I designed and created of custom marketing documents for unit and the converted relevant data and statistics into PowerPoint-ready presentations. I also served as the site administrator for SAVO sales product website, Lanyon Hotel RFP product/database, Salesforce and Vertical Response (CRM), Runzheimer, SharePoint and Raindance/Intercall conferencing websites and was responsible for the on boarding/training of new hires on the Management team.

As a member of the Emerging Business Unit, I conducted B2B inside sales consultations of the CareerBuilder products for small to midsized companies.

As a Contract Employee for Front Office Staffing, my longest assignment served was as an Administrative Assistant for BET Network’s Media Sales office in Chicago. While on assignment, I co-produced the network's first successful viewing party of the BET Music Awards, supported the production team for BET's reality tv show "College Hill" during their Chicago taping and oversaw the remodel and expansion of their Chicago Office.

As the assistant to both the Director of Women’s Programs and the Sexual Assault Education Coordinator, I managed all event planning, facilities scheduling, media relations, design of marketing materials, direct student assistance, volunteer coordination, report and budget generation, travel planning and internal paperwork processing. These efforts included a diverse range of projects from the coordination of two academic scholarship awards to the monitoring of participation levels/compliance in the Campus Acquaintance Rape Education workshops for the entire freshman class. As an integral member of the OWP/ODOS team, I frequently represented the office in the general public, solicited participation and co-sponsorship of programs/events from other campus units and directly advised on the redesign of the campus mandated sexual assault education program.

I offered marketing support to our sales team, created and managed all new marketing scenarios for our insurance lines and initiated broker and customer relations.

I assisted the Special Events Coordinator in a multitude of event planning functions relating to non-profit fundraising efforts, working on golf events, celebrity billiards tournaments, auctions, our statewide bowling fundraiser and the procurement of both capital and substantial in-kind donations. Our Special Events team produced remarkable returns, providing more than half of all income for the Seattle office. Additionally, I directly assisted the Director of Development with marketing campaigns, creation and design of new marketing materials, the redesign of their website, proposal preparation for our corporate giving campaigns and the general coordination of our annual telemarketing campaign.
