Over the last decade, I’ve taught tens of thousands of entrepreneurs and executives learn about deep tech innovation in Silicon Valley, from AI to robotics to blockchain.I led an incredibly high performing team that made innovation look easy.But in 2018 I had an awakening that rocked my beliefs about the future.I realized that the best way for humans to thrive in a future full of AI, is to double down on the things that make us human and give us advantage compared to AI.Things like collaboration, creativity, adaptability, teamwork, leadership and emotional intelligence. So I left my once-in-a-lifetime role as an Executive Director at both the XPRIZE Foundation and Singularity University, working directly with Peter Diamandis, and shifted to studying what makes humans, well… human!I started a boutique consulting practice focused on the Future of Work, helping leadership teams learn how to solve complex business problems through better tools and team dynamics. And then the pandemic unintentionally turned the business world upside down, and my practice right-side up!Suddenly CEOs were desperate to understand how to lead teams in a remote, lockdown world.So my friend Keith Ferrazzi and I started a global research project to identify which team behaviors and leadership strategies allowed the most successful teams to thrive in crisis and uncertainty.The findings were so transformative that Harvard Business Review asked us to turn the research into a book, which we published in 2022 called “Competing in the New World of Work.”Our book was translated into 6 languages. It was a global bestseller. Our research was highlighted in global publications.
