About Kiara Baskin
I am an Perinatal Health Educator, Certified Lactation Counselor, and Doula, focused on transforming the landscape of maternal health for women of color. As the founder and principal of Bump to Birth Doula Services, I have been at the forefront of providing essential support and advocacy to Black families, striving to eliminate racial disparities in maternal and infant health.In my role as Program Manager at Day One Doula Collective, I lead initiatives that educate and empower Black families, while also training community-based doulas to extend culturally competent care throughout the community. My dedication to this work has been recognized through the Athena Young Professional Award and the Grand Rapids Area Black Business Young, Black, and Gifted Award, both of which reflect my commitment to leadership, innovation, and social impact in the field of maternal health.As a Mothering Justice fellow and a graduate of the Urban Core Collective's Transformational Leadership Program, I am deeply engaged in promoting policies and practices that support health equity. My academic background in Health Care Administration, combined with hands-on experience in doula services and community training, fuels my drive to ensure that all birthing people, especially those from underserved communities, receive the highest standard of care.
