As an occasional teacher with the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB), I foster connections within the educational community. Working under Dr. Maria Cantalini-Williams has provided me with the opportunity to produce media content for Wilfrid Laurier's Faculty of Education (FOE). As a focus for my internship, I created a newsletter that captured the many achievements of Wilfrid Laurier's FOE, that was distributed to our partner school boards.

Mission on the Moon is an educational program designed by Wilfrid Laurier University and InkSmith to provide students from Grades 6-9 with inquiry-based coding and robotic activities. Working with Dr. Mueller has provided me the opportunity to contribute to Mission on the Moon's Educator Guide by developing assessment tools for educators. I have also supported the Mission on the Moon Team by helping run a hands on, interactive workshop titled: Bring Your Own Associate Teacher. At this event Teacher Candidate's at Wilfrid Laurier worked collaboratively with their Associate Teacher's to learn how to code K8 robots.

As an after school educator, I work on the ground with youth by encouraging their leadership potential and designing programming that best suits their passions and interests. We often work on weekly interest-based projects, developing gross-motor skills through sports and games as well as fine-motor skills through various art activities. As a supervisor, I perform administrative duties to ensure that our program runs smoothly. This includes daily checks of our program space, written daily reports of how program unfolded, as well as program planning to document and support the youths' interests as they pertain to each given week. An important component of my role involves communicating with caregivers. I provide caregivers with an open line of communication to ensure caregivers are aware of their youths' experiences in after school care. This allows both myself and caregivers to collaboratively support their youths' interests and potential. Everyday I can expect a fun and rewarding experience at the YMCA, as the youth are always surprising me with new interests and ideas. I have built incredible relationships with both the staff and youth and continue to be inspired as I leave work each day.
