My name is Kiara Castro and I am 21 years old. I am currently a student at the University of South Florida majoring in Psychology in pursuit of becoming a clinical psychologist. I have been working since the age of 16 and my first job was working at Whits Frozen Custard, which is a growing frozen custard franchise. I worked there for 3 years and gained a lot of knowledge about how a successful business should operate and gained insight into how to properly communicate with others in a professional environment. When I am not occupied by my school work, I run a small nail business that I have developed since 2020. It has been really successful over time and it has brought me major successes such as being able to connect with high-level brands. It has also allowed me to have a space where I can use my communication skills to talk to all types of people. These two jobs have shaped me into a diligent, driven, good listener, smart, and social person. I desire to serve others and help them become the greatest version of themselves, which is why I want to pursue this professional path.

  In my position, I deal with a group of children aged 6 to 8. It is an after-school program in which children are entertained by activities designed by Behavioral Health Technicians in order to improve some of their behavioral concerns. The children we encounter come from families currently suffering from homelessness, which can be difficult for the children; thus, this after-school program provides them with a stable caring atmosphere in which to express themselves.
