About Kiara J. Gomez

My curiosity for science and helping people has always been at the core of who I am. I obtained my doctoral degree in Geological Sciences at UT Austin in the Jackson School of Geosciences. Over the course of my academic career, I have learned and applied geochemistry across different geoscience disciplines including petroleum geology and paleoclimatology. I have experience extracting data from large datasets and communicating important scientific findings to the general public via outreach efforts. My career goal is to bring my strong science and technical background and apply it to an industry that values data sciences collection and analysis. I have worked with multicultural and multidisciplinary teams during my career as a researcher, both within the US and abroad. I also have experience supervising diverse team of several ecologists tasked with assessing an environmentally protected wetland over the course of 6 months. As such, I will continue to unify my skills to keep a career as an exploration geologist, data visualization/analyst, or data scientist where I can apply my computer science and programming skills.Competencies and Skills:- Geochemistry- Technical writing- Data management- Teamwork - Project management- Excellent organizational & interpersonal skillsTechnical and Programming Skills:- Python (high intermediate)- ArcGIS/ArcGIS Pro (intermediate)- Petrel (advanced)- R (basic use for statistical modeling)- ADF and ADO- Visual Studio Code/ProData Visualization:- Power BI (intermediate)- Tableau (intermediate)Databases:- SQL (basic using MySQL and SSMS)- Azure Data Lakecheck out my website at : kiarajgomez.com
