Katherine (Kibby) Mcmahon, Phd Email and Phone Number
As a clinical psychologist and thought leader in the mental health space, I am passionate about helping people connect more deeply to themselves and others. I'm CEO and Cofounder of KulaMind, a digital mental health company that supports loved ones of people with mental illness. In line with this mission, I have founded and cohost a mental health podcast called “A Little Help For Our Friends” that shares evidence-based tips for loved ones. The podcast has had over 180,000 downloads since inception and has led to further opportunities to disseminate my clinical expertise through speaking engagements, online media outlets, podcast interviews, and content for mental health start upsI have over 18 years of successfully conducting social and clinical psychological research at top tier institutes including Columbia University, Max Planck Institute, Weill Cornell Hospital and Duke University. I’ve used a wide variety of assessment and statistical methods to investigate how people can improve their social and emotional functioning. My research has been funded by both private and federal sponsors, such as the National Institute of Mental Health. My work has emphasized developing and evaluating digital tools to augment or even transform traditional mental health treatments. As a clinical psychologist licensed in New York and North Carolina, I treat adults with a range of disorders (anxiety, depression, trauma, personality disorders) with contemporary cognitive behavioral therapies such as dialectical behavior therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy. As a Vinyasa yoga instructor and biracial individual, I take an East-meets-West, holistic approach by infusing my western psychotherapy with mindfulness and yogic principles. This approach was inspiration for my founding and launching an inclusive, holistic virtual and in-person fitness studio called Intent FitHouse.
