About Ki-Chan Kim

I am a professor of management at the Catholic University of Korea and the international chancellor at the President University. I am also incoming chairman (2023 - 2024) of the International Council for Small Business (ICSB).I envision a world where SMEs and established companies work in partnership.I teach various MBA tracks, including Humane Entrepreneurship, Platform Strategy, and Korea Management (K-Management). I have served as Vice-Chancellor of the University and before that, as the Dean of the Business School.Over the years, I have advised numerous startups, SMEs, and more established enterprises such as Samsung Electronics and Hyundai Motors. I continue to guide these companies towards achieving a sustainable business model and eco-system. I strongly believe that with the right humane partnership model, a business can attract the most qualified workers, thereby bringing longevity to the industry.I served as the Chairman of the Innovation Economy Division at the President of South Korea's National Economic Advisory Council (NERC), a committee of the National Research Council for Economics, Humanities, and Social Sciences (NRC), and the President of the International Council for Small Business (ICSB).During my presidency (2015 - 2016) at the ICSB, I emphasized the importance of employee happiness in small and medium enterprises. From my extensive research in the automotive production line, I found an undeniable connection between the worker's level of work satisfaction and their commitment to the product. That's why I consider the employee's dedication level as the ultimate asset of any company. Through these initiatives (along with my ICSB colleagues), we succeeded in having the United Nations declare June 27 as the UN MSMEs Day.My recent publication, "The Joy of Innovation (2019)", has been selected as the National Book Award of South Korea, King Sejong Book Collection 2020. This book underlines the importance of innovation in maintaining competitiveness in a volatile market while adhering to principles of Humane Entrepreneurship.(Last Updated: June 2023)
