I’m a graduate of Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.I currently work at UNOS, a non profit. My position is expected to be available 24/7 365. During night and holiday shifts, I learned how to troubleshoot problems since most teams are not available 24/7. I did all this while keeping up with information security and HIPPA laws and expectations. We speak to doctors, surgeons, organ coordinators, and IT personnel every day.As Organ Placement Specialists, we are held to high standard. We are not allowed to interpret OPTN policy. We are simply able to locate policy and explain to personnel what recommendations we have been given. That being said, we are hands on and locate and reiterate policy daily. We do all of this while still making ourselves available to help allocate cases of renal and non renal organs.
