9-1-1 expert. Technology implementer. Bow tie enthusiast. A friend once described me as "a person whose hobby is having hobbies." It's true; at any given time you might find me playing golf, taking photographs, learning a new coding language, crafting a new recipe, or pretending that I really want to do yoga. I run a food blog. I wear bow ties and brightly-colored socks. And my fantasy football team is better than yours, probably. I’ve similarly found my career interests to be eclectic. I’ve done time driving the beer cart at a golf course, shelving books at a library, selling candy, and working as the sole reporter at a twice-weekly newspaper. Even when I found my calling working in emergency dispatch, I found a way to bounce around and try different things. But that’s where I shine. I’ve spent the last 19 years working in and around all things 9-1-1, and I have a range of knowledge and experiences that’s as wide as anyone’s. I’ve sat at the desk and answered 9-1-1 calls; supervised small and large teams; led major projects; developed and delivered training; implemented new technology (many times); administered CAD and other technology systems; created new technology to fill needs; observed and recommended new business practices for dispatch centers across the country; and managed my own center. I’ve been a leader, a follower, and everything in between. Despite all my varying interests – or perhaps because of them – I’ve found myself to be passionate about making 9-1-1 better. Specifically, I want to recognize the amazing work of the people involved and help make them (and their environment) as great as it can be. I’m an analyst, a trainer, a leader, a data geek, a CAD guru, a student, a project manager, and – in my heart – still a dispatcher. I believe in taking risks, challenging the status-quo, and never being afraid to fail. I’m always looking for new chances to share what I’ve learned to help make things better. Let me know how I can be of service.
