- Built a data pipeline that retrieves and categorizes Web documents in humanitarian crisis domain. - Published a paper in IBM R&D Journal and filed a patent for the work.

Worked with Data Science at Scale Team.- Urban data analysis: Created visualizations from NYC Open Data such as 311 records, bike sharing feeds and census data to show their potentiality of reflecting the city life.- NYC public transit simulation: Implemented a routing service that simulates the way residents commute in the city with respect to the statistics of NYC subway ridership.

Mobile Social Networking App: Built a data management system wrapping up Redis, a NoSQL store and implemented the core workflows including updating profiles, adding/removing friends and notifying offline messages, etc.

Developed three projects, two projects was deployed in production:- Social search engine: Built a Lucene-based search engine that helps users to find their friends.- User affinity system: Developed an affinity scoring system that collects user activity logs and computes the user affinity scores. - Distributed key-value storage: Implemented and validated the load balancing component using consistent hashing and bloom filter.
