The Vanilla JS Academy is a project-based online JavaScript training programme. I actively engaged with our students to help them enjoy the best possible learning experience.* Conducted code reviews, providing feedback on structure, quality, and potential bugs and accessibility issues. As a result, students learned to write more resilient, efficient code.* Helped students debug projects when they struggled to get their code working properly. As part of this process, I taught students debugging techniques and tricks to help them solve problems on their own more effectively.* Led online chat- and video-based discussions on a variety of front-end topics, and mentored students on current and emerging best practices and career questions. As a result, students were highly engaged and had a more effective learning experience.

Minted Box is a small web development agency. They build bespoke software such as booking systems, staff management applications, and pension calculators. My main responsibility was developing client sites from scratch using HTML and CSS, vanilla JavaScript and jQuery, PHP, and their proprietary CMS.* Advised team on the use of semantic HTML, ARIA attributes where appropriate, and other accessibility best practices. This mitigated potential legal issues and resulted in a better experience for users with disabilities.* Guided team towards a more consistent and structured codebase by recommending the use of functional programming, progressive enhancement, and internal code standards. This resulted in a more resilient codebase that's easier to maintain.
