I am responsible for maximising the performance of the Luna Park Syndey Amusement Park team in all aspects of Safety, Guest Service and Operations.

Luna Park Sydney is a multifaceted leisure complex located on the north shore of Sydney Harbour. Each year we welcome approximately 500,000 guests to the park and regularly host a variety of cooperate events and functions. It is with great pride that I regularly Duty Manage this historic site. My primary purpose is to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the park, while overseeing a team of up to 400 from a variety of departments. I’m trained in crisis management and emergency response and as such, I’ve regularly dealt with complex, challenging and often unexpected situations. I am a strategic leader and an advocate for cultural change and development amongst my teams. This can be achieved by purposeful recruitment, a high standard of training and consistent performance management. Above all else, it’s my job to ensure our guests have fun!

In my capacity of Rides Supervisor, I oversee a team of over 100 personally including 4 spectacular team leaders! The core component of my responsibility is to oversee and manage the safe and efficient operation of the Amusement Park. I am responsible for meeting the operational demands of the business while working under a strict budget. I oversee numerous administrative tasks and regularly complete legal documentation. Coaching and developing team members is one of the most satisfying aspects of my role. I regularly write and present training sessions and induction slideshows to the hundreds of people that join our team each year.

LEGOLAND Windsor Resort Ltd is located in the south east of the UK and is part of the Merlin Entertainments Group Ltd. For approximately 18 months I moved away from my attractions background and gained some invaluable skills operating as the Environmental Service assistant manager. The main purpose of this role was to ensure the park maintained excellent overall cleanliness and upheld high levels of brand presentation. On a day to day basis, I would oversee the operation of both Front of House and Back of House Environmental Service Teams, which consisted of over 100 personnel (including 1 Supervisor and 10 Team Leaders). This role gave me opportunities to engage with external parties and attend cleanliness and recycling conferences. I gained experience writing and presenting slideshows on LEGOLANDS recycling initiative and how the organisation worked within EU standards and regulation. I was also responsible for working with our procurement partners and other external contractors. I would oversee maintenance repair deals and bulk order stock orders for the coming weeks. My time in this position allowed me to operate and train other personal in the correct and safe operation of large machinery, including flatbed trucks, sweeper vehicles, heavy duty pressure washers and leaf blowers.

I still remember the phone call from Graeme telling me that I got the job. He told me that I would be working in “Traffic” and could I start on the Saturday. This is where my career in the Amusement Industry began. My main responsibilities were operating rides to a safe and efficient standard while providing high levels of customer service. It was my first real exposure to working with people and dealing with issues, such as height disputes, ride breakdowns and lots of vomit. By my second season I began team leader where I was responsible for rostering and training the team. Would deal with escalated guest issues and resolve them in a professional manner. I have some wonderful memories during this time. I dealt with a number of unique and unusual scenarios. Ranging from park wide evacuations, to capturing rouge animals in danger of getting caught in various mechanisms.
