During my time as a Clerical Officer I gained great organisational skills, phone etiquette, team work and problem solving. As a Clerical Officer within the Property Office we were faced with problems on a day to day basis which we had to very quickly find a solution for. This has given me experience of working in a fast paced and busy environment where i often had to multi-task

I was a Volunteer Police Cadet for 3 years. As a Police Cadet I gained a greta deal of knowledge from both the classroom based sessions and the more practical lessons. During my time as a Police Cadet I learned a lot surrounding basic law such as the theft act and what an assault is. During our practical sessions we were taught about use of force legislation and how to communicate with people effectively. I gained a range of skills from Police Cadets such as, confidence, communication, problem solving, resilience, responsibility and equality and diversity. As a Police Cadet I was able to assist local neighbourhood officers with many different operations they were running. I have taken part in a great deal of community engagement events across the county as well as taking part in a burglary initiative in Durham city with CID.

During my role as a Business Administration Apprentice in the Learning and Development department I gained an extensive knowledge of one of the forces HR IT systems called Oracle. I also gained further customer service experience as it was my role to meet and greet any body who was coming into the centre

During my time within the Alcohol Harm Reduction Unit I learnt a range of skills that helped me to do my day to day job. As an apprentice within the unit I had a range of different jobs. My main role was to look at the incoming jobs that had been processed by our control room from the day before and that they had tagged for "Licensing". This gave me further skills in using force IT systems such as Red Sigma, Inn Keeper, WebStorm and PenTip. It was also my role to identify any problem premises and make sure the relevant licensing officer was aware. I gained further skills in communication when I was asked to attend a College to present a scrutiny panel of body cam footage where i had blurred and bleeped certain parts of the footage.One of my other roles was to attend road shows with one of the Police Officers within the unit. We would attend road shows and educate people on the dangers of alcohol misuse and drink driving. This gave me great communication skills. With this I would also manage the units social media accounts whereby I would come up with interactive posts to get people engaged what we were posting. I ran a campaign during Alcohol Awareness Week where I created an alternative for alcohol on each day of the week.
