About Kieran Ryan
My career so far has spanned various domains including engineering, architecture, management, governance, strategy and transformation. I have worked as a software engineer, team leader, IT manager, and solutions architect.I am an experienced technologist. I started my IT career at the ABC in Sydney as a graduate software engineer in the ABC’s Internet team. I later travelled to Europe and settled in Ireland for almost 10 years. In Ireland, I worked for the GSM Association leading their company portal team, and later for Waterford Institute of Technology in the ‘Telecommunications System and Software Group’ as a software engineer and team leader. I completed my master's in communications software during this period.Returning to Australia and specialising in telecommunications, I also worked for Optus as a software engineer and more recently for the National Broadband Network (nbn) in various roles including engineering and architecture.I am passionate about collaboration, and I believe it to be key to success in our industry. At my current employer, I have initiated and facilitated key forums to promote collaboration among follow technologists across the company. I have formed and managed highly successful teams. The benefits of effective collaboration are many - they include the ability to harness the best ideas and approaches, promote reusability, knowledge sharing, all the while improving employee experience.When I'm not at work, or relaxing with my family, I love playing squash and tinkering with music on the guitar or the piano.
