Ruby on Rails Developer for 90 Seconds, working on their cloud video platform (https://app.90seconds.com) for ordering, managing, delivering, and publishing high quality video with emphasis on speed and quality. Came on at the beginning of the applications development, and have helped to build it from the ground up. Worked directly with the companies CEO (Tim Norton) to prioritise, develop, test, and deploy needed features which were used by the company right away. Emphasis on clean maintainable code as the application grew larger, which continual refactoring if the opportunity arose. Interfaced with multiple external services such as Gmail (over IMAP and POP3), YouTube, Vimeo, Xero, LinkedIn, and Facebook. Position also included tasks as systems administrator, which involved setting up, maintaining, and upgrading Google Cloud servers via Terraform and Ansible.

An unpaid part time volunteer for an open source game (0 A.D.) developed by Wildfire Games. Worked as the open source development manager (helping to generate interest in others to contribute to the game), as release manager (helping to organisations which features would make it into the next release, organising schedules, working out with the developers what they were working on, and pushing/publishing releases via various channels).

Ruby on Rails Developer for Social Capital working on heaps! (https://www.heaps.co.nz), a Kiwibank and Social Capital joint venture to create an online personal finance management and budgeting tool. Was part of a team of around 6 people developing various aspects of the application used by thousands of users and processing 100,000s of transactions a day. During my time there, I worked on some core parts of the application, and helped redevelop the budget and goals functionality of the application. I also pioneered development and maintenance of a better and faster test suite. Was also involved with the Scrum/Agile approach to development.

Ruby on Rails Developer for Katipo Communications Ltd working on Kete (http://kete.net.nz), a community driven digital archiving tool created for Horowhenua Library Trust. Kete was designed to manage posts, images, audio, video, and documents of a communities history submitted by the community themselves, and linked various items together via relationships. Kete used by multiple libraries and communities around NZ, including Horowhenua, Rotorua, Tauranga, and Taranaki Libraries, Horizons Regional Council, Chinese Digital Community, DigitalNZ, and PeoplesNetworkNZ. Worked over 2 years to help build up Kete's feature set, and added internationalisation support to the product.
