Pacific Particulate Materials Ltd. (PPM) manufactures and supplies custom ceramic, cermet, and metal powder blends and components to part manufacturers for domestic and international use. Some industries using our customized powders include the mining, oil & gas, cutting tool, and injection molding industries. My responsibilities included: - Recorded pressure and temperature data for 4 separate vacuum induction furnaces at 30-60 minute intervals- Learned to operate vacuum induction furnaces based on material types to produce top-quality carbides- Mixed 500+ kg of raw materials to customers’ specifications using proper procedures to prevent contamination- Processed furnaced materials into small chunks before handing off to another section- Studied and reported on existing furnace coolant system, working toward the design of a new system- Used furnace coolant system study to recommend equipment upgrades- Worked closely with other sections to assign priority and estimate timelines- Wrote instructions for night and weekend shifts at the end of every workday, communicating with other sections to determine priority of tasks assigned- Trained 7 new hires in the furnacing area, as well as keeping supervisors updated on changes to procedures

As assistant to Ausenco's lead mechanical engineer on the Quebrada Blanca phase 2 (QB2) project, I was responsible for communications, design review, and taking meeting minutes for teleconferenced meetings between team leads. As of this writing, QB2 is an ongoing project involving multiple companies from around the world including Ausenco (an international company from Australia), IDE (Israel), Bechtel (USA), and Teck (Canada), among others. The objective of QB2 as of this writing is to design a desalination port facility for the Quebrada Blanca copper mine. My responsibilities for communications involved tracking emails among team members to ensure all issues were resolved and as a record for potential future issues. I also actively communicated via email and phone with team members from the other companies whenever necessary. Another of my duties was to receive, review, and if necessary distribute design documents submitted to us for review to relevant team leads. As a result I have experience reviewing design documents from the QB2 project.
