Direct both Eastcoast and Cross country trains fleet maintenance, defects and casualties to ensure that the required maintenance, availability and performance targets meet the daily service requirements. Guiding the fleet deployment and maintenance strategies accordingly. Liaise with depots and third party maintenance providers and cross country control to ensure optimum management of fleet maintenance plans for both Eastcoast and cross country trains.Working as part of the Control Office team the Maintenance Controller is responsible for the overall daily running of the fleet, including policing of maintenance activities undertaken by in-house and bought in maintenance depots for all rolling stock provided for East Coast and Cross Country.• Reporting and management of defects reported during service.• Providing technical assistance to train drivers and on board crew.• Application of the Defective On Train Equipment contingency plan and other standards/safety documentation where required.• Authorising and managing concessions.• Co-ordinating Technical Riding Inspectors and fleet technicians to attend in service faults and failures.• Overseeing maintenance work to ensure compliance with Vehicle Maintenance Instructions requirements.• Issuing of special checks, raising safety related defects (SRD's) and out of course work via fleet On Call engineers.• Managing and controlling fleet defects through Maximo an RAVERS.

Maintain the integrity of the East Coast and Cross Country fleets by Working in a safe and professional manner, travelling up and down the East coast, attending to failed trains, fault finding en-route and repairing traction and rolling stock defects where possible. Advise station staff, train crew and others in the correct course of action on technical matters in order to maintain the service. Carry out engineering audits at contractors depots on night shifts.

Employed as a Team Leader, responsible for leading and directing staff, to enable the production of maintained, repaired, cleaned and marshalled traction and rolling stock. Advising and guiding staff as necessary ensuring they carry out technical work as required. Report and make recommendations regarding staff levels and working arrangements, formulate and produce staff rosters and monitor attendance hours and authorise timesheets, leave etc.

Employed as mech/elec technician in a typical train care depot environment, carrying out test procedures, maintaining, repairing and fault finding on Class 91 Locomotives and Mark 4 coaching stock. Ensuring the traction and rolling stock are serviceable for the next day’s timetable.

Responsible for ensuring a number of specialist machines, mainly 2x multi purpose gantries (M.P.G.) are maintained and repaired in order to continue production. Employed primarily in an under ground tunnel environment. Employed as a technician in the demanding world of support helicopters. Primary duties were carried out in a typical aircraft hanger environment, but more often than not I was deployed out of area, maintaining the aircraft in temporary conditions. Often in extreme climates and environments, whilst carrying out support duties, such as security patrols and guard duties.

Employed as a draughtsman, working on the design and installation of industrial weighing and sampling systems, using AutoCAD.
