I am a current senior at MNSU, Mankato, majoring in Psychology with a minor in Child Development and Family Studies. I am extremely interested in the field of mental health and counseling. I currently work for an assisted living company, and assist in the overall well-being of older adults suffering from aging diseases. I also have worked in group homes, assisting with younger adults with mental illness, and saw that as very rewarding. I had the opportunity to study abroad in New Zealand in the spring of 2014. I attended for one semester, taking on 4 classes, and also traveled throughout the entire country. This experience was life-changing, as I was able to grow independently, successfully navigate through a very different atmosphere, and gain tremendous confidence and personal skills. This experience also allowed me to become a peer advisor in my schools International Students Office (Kearney International Center). This opportunity has been very rewarding, as I get to mentor students who are interested in going abroad and speak to classes about my own experience.
