Investigated the viability of Hydrothermal Alkaline Treatment (HALT) of PFAS-contaminated wastewater biosolids. Developed methods for stable hydrochar generation and matrix cleanup for analysis. Utilized patented HALT treatment, solid phase extraction, and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis to investigate PFAS adsorption, partitioning, and destruction in hydrochar during biosolid carbonization and HALT treatment. Presented findings at ACS Denver 2024. Awarded an Environmental Engineering Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) to conduct this work.

Coordinated a team of 20 students to execute efficient commercial/industrial site visits, data gathering, energy analyses, and report writing. Led weekly team meetings and served as a liaison between students and directors. Conducted one-on-one meetings with students to address concerns and provide constructive feedback on deliverables. Attended National Center Lead Meetings and implemented recommended changes to improve program operations. Promoted due to demonstrated leadership.

Conducted commercial and industrial energy analyses, engineered solutions for increased energy efficiency, wrote technical reports, collaborated with vendors and executives, streamlined calculation methods, and developed and implemented training materials and standard operating procedures for new hires. Contributed assessment recommendations to 20 different site reports.

Assisted with the design of improvements for a 45 MGD Water Pollution Control Facility including the addition of AGS, digesters, and biogas cleaning and pressurization. Contributed to the bidding process and evaluated VE considerations post-bid, reducing project cost from $343 million to $300 million. Analyzed data and construction documents and wrote technical reports for several Utility Management Services projects.

Coordinated a team of 5-8 on a daily basis, trained new hires, addressed customer concerns, streamlined store processes, conducted inventory evaluations, and managed cash. Contributed to location’s rise to 2nd place in overall national rankings and receipt of a Bloomington Health and Safety Award. Promoted due to demonstrated leadership.

Administrated safe and fun soccer matches to teach soccer skills to Minneapolis youth ages 5-14.
