Undergraduate Researcher
CurrentInvestigated the viability of Hydrothermal Alkaline Treatment (HALT) of PFAS-contaminated wastewater biosolids. Developed methods for stable hydrochar generation and matrix cleanup for analysis. Utilized patented HALT treatment, solid phase extraction, and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis to investigate PFAS adsorption, partitioning, and destruction in hydrochar during biosolid carbonization and HALT treatment. Presented findings at ACS Denver 2024. Awarded an Environmental Engineering Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) to conduct this work.
