For the past 14 years, I have conducted research in dementia epidemiology across ethnicities, languages and cultures. The focus of my research has been on validating culture-sensitive and education-fair diagnostic tools for dementia, early identification and diagnostic assessments for dementia, assessing disease burden in different populations across the continents, identifying associated risk and preventive factors specific to these populations, multicomponent preventive interventions to delay or halt the onset of dementia, and dementia care in the community. My research in the past 10 years has been conducted in low and middle income countries in very challenging circumstances including political instability, scarcity of resources, and cultural differences. I assisted with technical support and review of the Dementia Toolkit for Community Workers in Low and Middle Income Countries (LMIC) released by the WHO Western Pacific Region in 2018 (http://iris.wpro.who.int/handle/10665.1/14014 ).
