• Leads HWPI’s work to facilitate development and use of non-motorized recreational trails throughout Washtenaw County and into surrounding counties.• Develops and executes organizational development efforts, including major donor cultivation, grants management, fundraising events, and community-level donor engagement.• Oversees community and volunteer engagement, such as trail programs, volunteer events, and participation in community-wide activities.• Works directly with public-entity partner organizations from Washtenaw County, the State of Michigan, and various municipalities along trail systems in which HWPI operates to help manage trail construction, beautification work, donor recognition towers, pathfinding systems, and other trail-related projects.• Manages HWPI’s nonprofit lobbying efforts to secure state appropriations and public grants.• Oversees a team of six full-time staff in administration of day-to-day organizational activities. • Reports directly to HWPI Board of Directors in oversight of HWPI’s operations, finances, and long-term strategic direction.

-- Provides leadership and oversight of all grant activity at Michigan LCV-- Leads the writing of high-quality grant proposals and grant reports, including project narratives, budgets and other supporting documentation to meet grant deadlines.-- Serves as Michigan LCV’s liaison to foundations, securing new funding opportunities and managing foundation partnerships, including submissions of proposals, evaluation and reporting. -- Develops compelling development communications strategies and content to effectively cultivate, solicit and steward current and prospective donors. -- Serves as content/discipline expert and thought leader as it relates to grant funding opportunities and industry trends.-- With the Communications team, works to write specific external communications, including newsletters, board and staff profiles, and other communications as they arise.-- Assists in drafting certain internal communications, including organizational case statements and various protocol documents.-- Provides support to the leadership team and key staff for meetings with donors.

-- Serves as MLCV’s primary grant writer for foundation grants.-- Maintains and strengthens relationships with current donors, supporters, and partners focused on voting rights, environmental justice, climate and water policy and equity, and public health. -- Works to expand MLCV’s reach to new community and business leaders, potential donors, prospective foundations, and grassroots organizations. -- Educates voters about key environmental, climate, public health, and good governance issues -- Helps to elect pro-democracy and environmental legislators in Michigan and hold Michigan’s elected leaders accountable.
