My educational training is in law, public policy, and government relations work, and my professional experience includes work in politics, law, and in education, environmental, and public health-focused nonprofit organizations. I am interested in opportunities in the public policy, nonprofit, and social impact space, focusing on issues that include K-12 education, out-of-school time opportunities, health and wellness for underserved children, environmental impact, criminal justice reform and reducing rates of recidivism, among other issue areas. The common theme in these areas is my interest in helping to better the lives of low-income and underserved populations, and especially young people. My interest in this area has come from a wide range of work and education experience, including working for elected officials and at socially-driving nonprofit organizations, running the public policy and government relations arm of a large-scale nonprofit working with underserved kids, and through my master's degree in public policy, which included training in nonprofit management and social impact. From my experience in working for and with elected officials through various jobs, I also believe that politics and government, when at its best, can be a place to drive impactful change for disadvantaged communities.
