As the Director of Engineering for the Local Acquisition and Monetization group, I am responsible for getting new businesses onto the platform, onboarding them, and converting them to paying customers. This area of ownership covers marketing infrastructure, acquisition flows, in-product education, and self-serve advertising flows. My responsibilities previously included our Yelp Connect product, but that now lives in another part of the organization.Through this, I still maintain my responsibility for Yelp for Restaurants, but with an additional layer of abstraction.

I led engineering for Yelp for Restaurants for three years, taking ownership of the Yelp Reservations and Yelp Waitlist products. These were brought in-house via acquisition, and as such had disparate and non-Yelp-standard technical stacks. My job was to pull these pieces into a coherent product backed by a well-supported technical foundation while continuing to advance our position in the restaurant front of house SaaS market.

As the Head of Engineering for Yelp Hamburg, I was responsible for building out the engineering teams to support our mid-market and enterprise advertising products, along with supporting the existing local advertising product. Through that time, I built up our European recruiting team, developed a full internship program, and was responsible for hiring non-engineering staff including people operations, office management, product management, and more.

While on the consumer side of the product, I managed multiple teams through a variety of reorganizations. The teams I was responsible for over this time had ownership of the general web-based portion of the product, the contribution flows across all platforms, and the community features.

As an engineer, I led the creation of our review origin tracking system, migrated career tooling from Jobvite to Lever, and worked on large refactoring projects involving the write-a-review flow and our transition to service oriented architecture.

I started a small contracting firm to support some existing customers from Idea Tree when that firm shut down. This was primarily PHP and JavaScript development with the AngularJS framework.At the same time, I used this as an opportunity to work on some independent game development.
