Managing the R&D organization responsible for NC and Tooling solutions geographically split between US and India (Pune).Despite limited (and shrinking) resources the team under my management maintained and enhanced many key features of the product (especially in the areas of Production Machining and CMM) while also supporting high-priority customer engagements (including Toyota , Solar Turbines, Rolex, and others).The key competitive differentiator of PTC Production Machining offerings being full associativity with the rest of Pro/ENGINEER, worked hard to build on this advantage by standardizing UI and internal feature implementation. Over this period of time, Pro/NC dropped its own special file type, supported family tables, patterns, feature operations, switched to new “dashboard” UI.Our team was also one of the first in the industry to introduce Model-Based Design concepts by making it possible to embed manufacturing data into design model to semi-automatically create manufacturing process plan when required.

Worked on core computational algorithms for basic CAM machining strategies, such as 3-axis surface finishing by parallel cuts, flowline-type surface machining (3-axis, 4-axis, 5-axis), Rest Milling and others. Designed and implemented highly efficient and reliable gouge detection algorithm, rest milling optimization, isotherm-based implementation for flowline milling, etc. Following PTC acquisition of ComputerVision in 1998, worked to integrate into PTC solutions some advanced surface machining algorithms available in CADDS5.
