This new position is very similar to my last, except for the hours I work and the certain skills and tasks I will have to perform. With being a part time Sales Associate, my hours were about 10-18 hours a week, but with my new role, my hours have to be 22-24 hours a week minimum. This is definitely challenging for me because I am also a student, but it is so rewarding see all my hard work pay off. I will be doing many of the same tasks that I did prior, but I will also be adding some like: SOS orders, Opening and closing the store and cash registers, making deposit drops, doing returns, printing out our SOP's, and I will also be able to place supplies orders. It is definitely an entertaining environment to work in and grow in.

During my time with Journeys as a Sales Associate, I learned many valuable life lesson skills. I started off just doing training and learning where everything was and how to use it, then I was able to move forward and actually begin helping customers as well as do inventory, go over shipping, cycle and bulk count, and help close the store to a certain degree. During the first week I started working there, I had hit my sales goal by 160% in just one day. I started getting more and more familiar with the store layout and the backroom layout. I learned that you are able to do certain parts individually, but most of the time you are going to need help or you are going to have to rely on your other employees to help you too. I have also learned time management and how it is very important that you are there on time and you also help the customer with their shoes within a certain time frame. I have also used time management while balancing a job and being a full-time student as well. I was working between 10-20 hours a week as well as taking 16 hours this semester. It is not easy, and it is not for everyone, but it has made me happy and has really opened my eyes to what could possibly branch out into a job possibility in the future.
