At the age of seven, my parents told me I was going to be a big sister. This meant everything that was mine, was no longer mine. I would have to share it with another human. From that day on, instead of being bitter about it, I made it my job to protect my baby sister and to care for her in every way I knew how. This has helped me become the person I am today by teaching me responsibility at such a young age. My parents guided me and helped me learn how to care for and love such a tiny baby. This compassion has stuck with me my entire life. I believe that I have compassion for every person that I endure on a daily basis and that I am able to make people smile without having to try. As a nursing student I strive to experience as much as I am able to in the clinical settings and learn from as many nurses and patients as possible. I am willing to try things that I may not feel comfortable with to better myself and my skills and techniques. Once I graduate I hope to be involved within a pediatrics unit so that I can help not only children who are sick, but their parents who are worried.
