Ryan is skilled in the practice of human-centered design for positive social impact and his work experience is grounded in strategic planning, group facilitation, problem-solving, design thinking, and urban development.Ryan has a background in land use, economic development, public-private financing, and best practices in placemaking. He also has extensive experience managing complex, strategic planning initiatives, and working with diverse groups as a facilitator and project manager. More recently, Ryan has worked in a highly collaborative and regional environment to promote urban revitalization through real estate development, project financing, placemaking, affordable housing, and talent attraction. Ryan has worked on urban development deals varying in size from $500k to $100M+ and is experienced in negotiating the use of multiple public and private financing mechanisms.In 2015 Ryan obtained a Master of Arts in Design from Ferris State University and Kendall College of Art & Design. This was a program created by an interdisciplinary design team and was created to function as the equivalent of an MBA in Design. The program focuses on the design process and its application to business, social innovation, product development and process design. This degree has allowed Ryan to expand his capacity for problem solving, systems level evaluation and process development, leadership and strategic planning.
