Kim Barr is a Senior Advisor with Alvarez & Marsal Taxand, LLC in San Francisco. He has more than 26 years of experience in advising clients in a variety of industries, including healthcare, software, publishing and power generation. Mr. Barr's experience includes mergers and acquisitions, restructuring projects, ASC 740, tax compliance, as well as representing clients before the IRS. Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Barr was a partner with two Big Four accounting firms in San Francisco and Seattle. In San Francisco, he was in charge of the region's state and local tax practice. In Seattle, he led the tax practice for four years. Mr. Barr earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a juris doctor from Duke Law School. He is a frequent speaker on state taxation topics in various seminars and training sessions. Mr. Barr has served as CFO and as a Board Member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Marin and Napa County, as well as a Board member of a local low income housing association.
