During my time here, I functioned in a dual role – Marketing Manager and Assistant Director. This year has, for every industry across the board, thrown unexpected challenges our way through the COVID-19 virus. When Governor Cooper initiated stay-at-home orders, I immediately began to concept ideas which would address our revenue-production. We had internally implemented a spending freeze, and so I had to work within limited means – while still maximizing incoming tuition funds. The big question in my mind was how to capitalize on this time to stabilize enrollment for when the stay-at-home orders were lifted?Wanting to surpass what was defined as a stable enrollment level, I set my sights on an aggressive marketing concept. My goal was to get as close to full enrollment as possible for the 2020/2021 school year. Successful aspects of my plan included:1. Using stay-at-home orders to communicate directly with the community, knowing childcare needs quickly became crucial in many parents’ minds.2. Leveraging social media to promote free giveaways of child-friendly indoor activities, which resulted in a huge response. I packed puzzles, games, workbooks, and craft kits, offering to deliver them to parents. 3. Including letters about the preschool along with the packages to increase awareness. I then followed up with a second letter to solidify the connection. Many families enrolled due to this alone.But I didn’t stop there – I made our social media focus on giving donated supplies away for free. Formula, diapers, pullups, anything we had which people needed. I brainstormed with the director, advocating for putting together clear policies for reopening, to make parents feel safe to bring their children. Families joined our page for the engagement with boredom-busting activities.From these efforts, our projected enrollment for 2020/2021 is 337% higher as compared to the decrease in enrollment the school experienced during stay-at-home order.

After having participated for several years, I sourced and built an event app which my superiors touted as having “revolutionized the way we interact during the event”. The app also increased communication among the customers, rewarding them for engaging, and connecting them to event sponsors. Overall, it elevated our brand image and increased customer satisfaction during and after the event.I watched multiple internal team members come, learn, and move on, but I am proud of my loyalty which I feel contributed to my long-term success. The skills I built with marketing and customer engagement meant I was well-prepared for my next role.
