From Accountable Care Organizations and Concierge Medicine to Direct Contracting and Bundled Payments, TMA's Office of Innovative Practice Models follows trends in alternative practice and payment models across Texas.

Launched in Feb. 2015, as a subsidiary of the Texas Medical Association, TMA PracticeEdge is a trusted ally in creating physician-led accountable care organizations (ACOs) as physicians fight to maintain independence, clinical autonomy, and the primacy of the patient-physician relationship. Partnering with Innovista Health Solutions, TMA PracticeEdge manages 15 physician owned and led ACOs across Texas, offering technology tools, data analytics, and clinical and management teams who work with physician members to positively impact quality of care, lower health care costs, and improve the patients’ health care experience. Physicians are rewarded with gain share opportunities and other value-based care incentives. To date, more than 500 independent primary care physicians have joined TMA PracticeEdge in 45 counties across Texas. 80% of ACO members are in solo or small practice, serving 230,000+ patients in value-based care contracts consisting of Medicare Shared Savings, Medicare Advantage, and commercial contracts.
