Associate - TransportBeca Jun 2019 - Feb 2021Auckland, NzAs an Associate at Beca Limited, I have worked on projects related to road safety, sustainable low-carbon transport, and public transport that directly contribute to sustainable development. -
Senior AssociateWorld Resources Institute Apr 2015 - May 2019My main responsibilities at WRI included engaging and assisting Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, and Shanghai to enhance road safety policies and improve road infrastructure which led to improvement in the low-carbon transportation system, resiliency, and sustainable development. I also assisted GIZ and the local government to establish the bicycle network and bicycle-sharing program as part of the TUMI project in Hoi An, Vietnam. I have led strategy development by navigating sustainable development policy and assisting the stakeholders to identify policy gaps. As a result, I have been successful in incorporating road safety recommendations into the city and national road designs and guidelines. Moreover, I was able to reduce political fragmentation by connecting various government agencies, NGOs, and private sector stakeholders working on the same road safety goals as well as coordinating the partners’ activities to provide capacity-building and safety interventions. For example, through our work, Bangkok announced that they would work together to adopt Vision Zero. Ho Chi Minh City has installed over 200 traffic calming measures citywide to improve safe access to public transit and improved the planned BRT system. In Shanghai, bicycle safety was improved based on my recommendations. After identifying the necessity for a national guideline on safe access to public transit, I worked with the China Academy of Urban Planning and Design to develop a national guideline on safe access to public transit. In addition, I have provided support and guidance to local NGOs. For example, I provided technical support to Asia Injury Foundation in developing Safe Routes to Schools Program in Vietnam. I also organized and conducted workshops to build the capacity and facilitate knowledge exchanges on road safety and sustainable transportation among government officials, members of civil society and academia, and other stakeholders.
