I’m a data scientist with a passion for ocean technology. Designing new sensors? Have data that is not quite right? Then I can help! A world expert on ocean sensor design and ocean data, I use a combination of physics-based and data-driven models to understand and improve sensor performance in the one of harshest environments on this planet, the ocean. I make ocean data easier-to-use and easier-to-access by providing solutions and tools that anyone from scientists to surfers can use. Here are some of my favorite activities and projects: - Building SwiftUI apps to turn smartwatches into smart sensors for marine scientists - Analyzing 1000’s of Argo floats to identify and remediate manufacturing defects - Developing new sensors for ocean robots - Strategic planning for software to interact with ocean instrumentation - Publishing data processing packages for CTDs, oxygen, and nitrogen sensors on Github - High-level customer service where I help people recover their data. - Driving community engagement through teaching, social media, and bad photoshop. - Building real-time data acquisition systems for towed-instrument platforms that can fly under ice. - Being a trusted source of scientific information for scientists and the public, with over a dozen interviews on major news media.Want to know more?
