The CPPO is responsible for developing and delivery of the people strategy across the division in support of the ABF Sugar strategy. The role focuses on building divisional operational excellence across the entire people management cycle. Through effective partnerships with the CEO and the ABF Sugar executive this role will set direction, drive the enablement of the people agenda across the division and enable the performance of the business.

Group executive role reporting to the Managing Director of Illovo Africa Group. The overall scope of the role was to align the HR strategy, operating model and resources to directly support the strategic imperatives of the business, build an adaptive leadership culture of high performance and accountability, manage talent across the African territories, drive a growth strategy from an operating model perspective and enable the business to effectively lead change.With Illovo’s presence in 6 countries in Africa, the role had oversight of an employee base of 12 000 permanent employees to around 35 000 employees during the cultivation season.

In an Executive Management position, assuming ultimate responsibility for the group human resources function with specific emphasis on; developing and executing human resources strategies in order to support business and human resources requirements | offering strategic human resources leadership to the executive management and the human resources functions | directing the Division’s concerns with government, industrial and labour related stakeholders.Strengths include:  Policy formulation; establishment of professional policies, as well as providing the overall operational guidance. Decision-making responsibilities in compliance with the organisation’s policies.  Monitoring and evaluating of the company performance, successfully creating measurable goals | milestones and accomplishing results.  Assuring company project deliverables within fixed budgets and in absolute timely manner. Budget control, revenue assurance and allocation of funds.  Ensuring compliance within the Groups HR legislation, related strategies and policies together with the preparation and implementation, as well as monitoring of budgets. Developing organizational capability through facilitation and/or implementation of talent management, capability development, succession planning, career management and leadership development processes across business units. Providing HR leadership and advice to Line Execs as well as HR Execs within the company inclusive of coaching and transformation of the HR function to ensure the quality provision of HR consultancy and advising service. Supporting the people transformation agenda and keeping abreast of the latest trends and developments in HR management.  Implementing leading edge systems where necessary in overall contribution to the profitability and development of the Business units and the Group.  Annual salary reviews Generate conceptualization and execution of overall HR policies and procedures
