Engineering Design Technician
Current• Assisted the Professional Engineer in completing non-linear pole line analysis.• Coordinated work activities with Project Managers, Project Coordinators, CAD Designers, Engineering Design Technicians, and Project Engineers.• Prepare Spida model for existing poles and analyze the measured design and recommended design based on CSA code or client specification (Hydro or Telecom specification).• Prepare existing and future bundles and master sheets based on wind and ice loading, separations and clearances, and detailed sag, tension, and pole loading calculations using CommScope.• Modify AutoCAD, finalize the drawings, and be ready to go to Engineers and Clients.• Generating Hydro Make Ready and Telecom Make Ready drawings to be issued to contractors.• Prepare engineering reports, drawings, and documents for the approval of the Project Engineer.• Quality Control of new Preliminary Designer works.• Detailed non-linear pole line calculations using industry-approved software (e.g., SPIDA Calculation, Quick Poles, AutoCAD).• Assists with solving make-ready challenges, providing design remedies for non-compliant pole lines.• Participates in ongoing development of design standards and methodologies to further develop design and operational efficiencies.• Review permit applications from third parties on behalf of Local Distribution Companies following set guidelines and standards.• Assist the project team with achieving project deadlines and budgets.
