Worked under the title of 'Data-driven Mathematical Modeling of Spatiotemporal Dynamics of Epigenetic Interactions in Stem Cells' in which I, under the guidance of my advisor, employed machine learning to map the epigenetic interactions in hematopoietic stem cells to generate data pertaining to the spatio-temporal epigenetic interactions in blood stem cells and attempted to bring about an analogy with a classic Reaction Diffusion system, which could serve valuable in explaining, understanding and controlling the overall behavior of epigenetic interactions in stem cells.
Electrical/Software (Firmware) Team Member
- Played a crucial role in brainstorming ideas for the battery design, focusing on establishing optimal connections to achieve desired battery output voltages, peak, and continuous current.- Contributed to the conceptualization and refinement of the battery system, ensuring it meets performance requirements for the SM-24 Motorcycle project.- Currently part of the transition from an Arduino MCU to an STM32 microcontroller in CubeMX, implemented in C elevate the motorcycle's control systems. This strategic upgrade promises heightened responsiveness and advanced technological capabilities for the SM-24 Motorcycle.
Immersion Program Student
- Understood and studied in detail the techniques of pairwise, multiple, global and local sequence alignment (used the BLAST tool extensively on various given genome sections to make very broad/basic inferences on phenotypic similarities in the givens). - Used SCORING MATRICES to understand sequence alignment of DNA and RNA. - I also had the privilege of working on UChicago’s Research and Computing Centre’s supercomputer ‘Midway’, where I, in collaboration with another student, genotyped and annotated (using ANNOVAR) with HPC a FASTQ file from the 1000 Genomes project identifying polymorphisms on a subject’s genome and wrote a paper describing that specific variant (the UCHL1 S18Y variant - a potential cause for Parkinson’s disease in that individual).-Wrote codes to find the ORFs of a RNA sequence and tested it on Zika and Rabies viruses’ genomes.- Rewrote the Needleman-Wunsch algorithm and the Waterman-Smith algorithm in R programming with guidance. - Used VMD to extensively study protein shapes and describe possible roles in gene regulation and expression.
