I led and managed an expert team of languages teachers, whose boundless energy and enthusiasm were surpassed only by their passion and creativity. I taught and tutored some of the best students in the world (this may be understating things). And I worked alongside some highly skilled and dedicated colleagues in administrative and clerical positions. As for achievements, 'res ipsa loquitur', as the Romans might have said (cue Recommendations).

In addition to my pastoral role, and a brief to recruit more students to the Sixth Form, I was given the opportunity by enlightened members of the Senior Leadership Team to teach different subjects, including History, General Studies, and Government & Politics, which I researched and introduced to the school.

Apart from French and German, which I was hired to teach, I also happily taught English language and literature, Law, and Sociology. As part of my CPD, I learned Spanish - a subject noticeable for its absence from school curricula in the 70s, thanks to General Franco! - which I later went on to teach to GCSE and beyond.

I led a diverse, multi-lingual team responsible for global licensing and franchising development for the original celebrity hairdresser. Jean-Louis David, a contemporary of Vidal Sassoon, Leonard, and Jacques Dessange, is recognised in his native France - and in Spain and Italy - as one of the most innovative stylists of his generation, with 700+ franchised salons and lucrative licensing deals with L’Oréal among others.

My brief here was to maximise the market share and profitability of Calvin Klein fragrances, a division of Unilever at the time. I headed up a skilled, multi-lingual team that was as close-knit as it was geographically separated - in Geneva, London, Zurich, Vienna and Warsaw. And I worked in constructive partnerships with distributors right across Europe, from Sweden to Greece; Iceland to Russia.

I had overall responsibility for sales and marketing at the UK subsidiary of this quirky make-up brand, a hit with beauty journalists and, as it was then, part of the privately owned Bourjois-CHANEL group.
