Sold my company, Real Property Insight, to Overture in 2014. Overture's automated underwriting system is the only independent, commercially-available AUS in the mortgage industry. In addition to mortgage origination, it powers better decision-making throughout the value chain, including secondary market risk transfers, defaulted loan resolution and online lead qualification. As head of product development, expanded solutions, business models and customer relationships. Re-positioned the software's capabilities to enable clients to re-imagine their customer interactions and business models and begin to digitally transform their enterprise. • Real Property Insight
    President
Real Property Insight Oct 2010 - Apr 2014
Sold the company I founded to Overture Technologies in 2014.Real Property Insight is a specialized integrator of information focused on distressed residential asset disposition. Nationally, we offer financial institutions, agencies, investors and insurers credible, consistent and comprehensive information insights into the homes in their portfolios and acquisition pools. And our integrated delivery, complementary renovation and other services make this information actionable on the scale this mortgage crisis demands. As we study the value chain in distressed asset disposition, we find many instances in which misaligned economic incentives are causing excess credit losses – and many instances in which some companies are avoiding those pitfalls. With this insight, we’ve focused on building the information products and tools that bring best practices to scale. Our conversations with multiple stakeholders convince us that there is an emerging and fast growing demand for higher quality, more effective approaches and services in this market segment. We believe this creates an extraordinary opportunity for new entrants who have the imagination, expertise and resources to deliver the new solutions the mortgage industry needs.
  • Capital One Home Loans
    President
Capital One Home Loans Jun 2008 - Oct 2009
    Mclean, Va, Us
Promoted to reposition COHL from home equity loan originator to full product residential lending operation for Capital One Bank. The legacy customer proposition centered on debt consolidation home equity lending, and when the secondary market for those loans disappeared in August 2007, the business shifted its originations to agency-conforming first mortgage products. Initiated efforts to change the customer proposition to appeal to a bank customer base versus relatively price insensitive debt consolidator segment. These efforts included market research, renegotiation of contracts with key fulfillment service providers to lower the cost of these services and improve controls and order turn time, and establishment of new process to improve fulfillment of purchase transactions. Conducted comprehensive review of risk in the business and formulated plans to identify root causes and remediate weaknesses. Established new function to address repurchase demands and investor declines as the credit environment deteriorated. Concentrated leadership focus on changing the culture; the company still reflected its entrepreneurial roots rather than the professional environment of a Fortune 200 company. Comprehensively addressed the originations process. Initiated FHA originations to maintain product availability as conventional product offerings contracted. Conducted extensive technical training across the organization to improve knowledge, expertise and credit risk management capabilities. Initiated comprehensive redesign of systems to facilitate first mortgage originations and evolve to a superior secondary market execution. Reorganized the company into LEAN cells to infuse accountability into the process and the organization.• $4.8 million pre-tax contribution in 2008 excluding reserves and allocations; all-in ($19) million net income after taxes• $1.9 billion originated loan volume at 3% average margin• $58.7 million operating expense base and 368 employees
