As Director, SEBE Gender Initiatives my work focuses on staff and student gender equity within non traditional areas for women.

My research and teaching activities are in the areas of environmental management, and education for sustainability. Research into the management of wetland biodiversity in rural and urban landscapes includes seedbank investigations as part of the rehabilitation program for the Winton Wetlands (formally Lake Makoan) near Benalla, and the impact and management of human induced salinisation of wetlands in rural Victoria. In urban areas my research addresses the management of stormwater systems. I have supervised many research students investigating the management of wetland biodiversity. Within the Environmental Management and Sustainability degree I teach into the areas of water resources management, catchment management, environmental policy, project management and environmental sustainability. I am a member of Deakin's Education for Sustainability research group with a particular interest in transformative learning. Show less

In 2015 I was a member of two teams who were finalists in the Australian Campuses Towards Sustainability, Green Gowns Awards Australasia. The Creating Sustainable Futures team was highly commended in the category of Learning, Teaching and Skills (media release attached).
