As a Sustainability Graduate, I supported Fisher & Paykel Healthcare's sustainability team across multiple work streams throughout the year, including:* Organisational carbon footprint measurement and reporting* Ongoing implementation of an Environmental Management System compliant to ISO14001 * Supporting product development engineers to use environmental lifecycle assessment tools, and to apply ecodesign principles in the design of products and packaging* Engaging employees across the company through events and communication around environmental topics* ESG disclosures to investors and customersIn this role I rapidly developed my knowledge across many aspects of sustainability, including topics such as environmental life cycle thinking and assessment; circular economy; product stewardship; climate-related risk; and the international landscape of environmental regulations.

As a demonstrator for the third year undergraduate course in solid state physics, I answered questions from students and supported them to complete practical work, as well as assessing student performance in the laboratory.

In this role I planned and taught interactive classes on debating and negotiation for groups of summer school students.

I held two consecutive research assistant roles after completing my studies at Victoria University of Wellington. First, in the Theoretical and Computational Chemistry group, I worked on the development of a molecule-specific force field for rapid assessment of reaction mechanisms, building on research conducted during my Honours year. Second, in the Ultrafast Laser Spectroscopy group, I developed solution preparation procedures and conducted initial measurements for a spectroscopic study of eumelanin pigment.

As a tutor and demonstrator for first year undergraduate chemistry courses, I was responsible for guiding students to develop practical skills in chemistry, complete experimental work safely, and communicate their results clearly and effectively. This involved in-person teaching as well as marking and providing feedback on written work.

While on a summer research scholarship from Victoria University of Wellington, I worked on the synthesis, application, and characterisation of material coatings for fire protection.

As the leader of a Peer Assisted Study Support (PASS) group, I planned, developed activities for, and facilitated regular study sessions with first year Chemistry students.
