The Greater Portland Workforce Initiative (GPWI) is a strategic and comprehensive approach to connect trained and supported job-seekers to Portland-area employers through an efficient "pipeline" focused on specific sectors and in-demand occupations. The Initiative links and builds upon the work of community organizations and the public system so that a seamless continuum of services and supports is in place to maintain both marginalized job-seekers and employers.

My role promoted the services of Goodwill Workforce Solutions and the CareerCenter network to the business community in Cumberland County. This included extensive knowledge and promotion of the TOPS grant, which focusesd on placing and supporting candidates in STEM careers.I developed relationships with employers and employer groups to ensure their recognition and use of solutions such as On-the-Job training, customized training, staffing services, work opportunity tax credits, and the Maine job bank. Additional Responsibilities: Grant Manager for Beyond Jobs 2.0 (a Goodwill Industries International grant supporting job development and financial literacy for low income women funded by the Wal-Mart Foundation); assistance with planning, development, and training for the Job Connection in Lewiston; and job placement for immigrants and refugees certified through Goodwill's retail skills training program.

Developed and ran Virginia’s first fully integrated Comprehensive Workforce Center in Roanoke, VA. The position involved project management of both construction, IT, and service processes; development and provision of public relations/marketing for the Workforce Center system; serving as a primary contact and organizer for rapid response to company layoffs; overseeing Center operations including direct supervision of Center staff; coordination of committees and workgroups; development of MOUs; facilitation of Center budgeting discussions between State and local entities; management of Center billing and supplies for all Partners on and off site; ensuring customer needs are met and duplication of services or competition between services is addressed appropriately and productively; and recruitment of outside organizations who provide desirable workforce services.

Served as a point of expertise and effectively present information to Workforce Center staff, business groups, disability groups, other agencies, local government, etc. on employment services, Social Security work incentives, job accommodation/assistive technology, health care options, transportation/housing supports, and the benefits of employment of persons with disabilities.

Analyzed medical, vocational, and educational evidence to determine eligibility for Social Security disability.
