I successfully developed programs and processes aimed at promoting diversity, inclusion, and equity within the Duke Global Health Institute (DGHI). I collaborated closely with the DGHI director to conceptualize and demonstrate actions and outcomes that underscored our commitment to people impacted by our diversity and inclusion work.In my role, I established productive partnerships with University leadership, the D&I Committee, and the SoM D&I Council, actively identifying emerging issues, trends, and opportunities in the realm of diversity and inclusion. I took charge of overseeing the strategic planning efforts pertaining to diversity and inclusion in various aspects, including programming, human resources, community building, and training initiatives.One of my key responsibilities was to provide guidance and consultation to our dedicated staff, esteemed faculty members, and administrators. I offered insights and recommendations across a wide spectrum of strategies, opportunities, and initiatives that were strategically designed to advance diversity and inclusion within the Institute and its affiliated Centers.I compiled, analyzed, and summarized demographic data and diverse inclusion-related quantitative and qualitative metrics crucial for our research and evaluation efforts to gauge our progress towards the goals set by the School of Medicine (SOM) and in alignment with broader enterprise strategies.

I successfully managed fiscal programs, budgets, and projections for several KBDB3 (Know Better. Do Better. Be Better.) initiatives focused on enhancing the health and well-being of people of color by addressing critical issues within communities including, but not limited to:-Cultural responsiveness-Diversity and inclusion-Anti-racismI oversaw the financial aspects of these programs, ensuring that budgets were meticulously managed, and projections were carefully monitored to achieve optimal outcomes. The programs were dedicated to making a positive impact on the communities we served, and I played a key role in supporting their financial sustainability and effectiveness.

Co-facilitated a North Carolina-based HIV Testing and Counseling programEvaluated participant’s knowledge and skills

Designed and facilitated 12+ hours of Culturally Competent Care (C3) training for HIV prevention and care workers statewide.Designed and facilitated booster sessions on culturally competent care for specific HIV-affected populations.Facilitated Safe Space Ambassador meetings and training sessions.

Developed statewide/regional relationships with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SC DHEC) and the American Cancer Society (ACS).Designed and facilitated curricula on HIV and other sexually transmitted infections at multiple regionalhealth centers in the Eastern, Central, and Western areas of NC.
