Kimberly Aldridge, PhD is currently a Professor in the Human Service and Social Justice Department at The George Washington University and has a broad background that spans multiple areas. She is a recent graduate of Harvard Medical School's Executive Education Program in Global Healthcare Leadership where her focus was on driving early intervention for mental health care for communities of color. She is a volunteer, advocate, and family support group facilitator with the National Alliance on Mental Illness. In addition to educating caregivers, her passion is to normalize discussions of mental illness in the Black community towards the improvement of better long term treatment outcomes. Prior to her work in mental health, Dr. Aldridge spent over 20 years in the pharmaceutical industry commercializing new treatment options for cancer patients. She works with the Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network (BCAN) as a patient advocate, lending her voice to the thousands of misdiagnosed Black women with bladder cancer. Dr. Aldridge completed her PhD at Michigan State University in Agricultural Economics with a specialization in international economic development and international marketing. Her thesis examined price signaling and policy in the context of smoothing consumption across highly variable production zones to ensure food security in Mali, West Africa - where she also served as a Peace Corps Volunteer. Dr. Aldridge is a board member of “In Our Own Voice: National Back Women’s Reproductive Justice Agenda”, a 2016 recipient of Top Blacks in Healthcare, a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and a coach and mentor to many. She seeks to bring her collective skills to a leadership role in a Healthcare Foundation, one with a commitment to justice and health equity.
