I truly believe that flight training can get cheaper, be easier to learn, be easier to teach, and be a lot of fun the entire time. We live in a world where a pilot can become a flight instructor with only 250 hours more than their students. But heres an unpopular opinion ...flight instructors actually WANT to be awesome at their jobs, and whats more...even though they are there for the hours so they can get a better job...they actually really WANT to do better, be better and know more and take care of their students. Its actually everyone else that puts them in a box of uncaring logbook milkers. If you take care of the flight instructor, and mentor them, and pay them a living wage...they will take care of the customer...they will grow and blossom and strive for excellence!!!It happens every time. Additionally I believe that when aviation training is presented in a way that is easy to take in, easy to digest and easy to pass on, this means the student gets better training. When flight training gets better, more students get training: the schools get more students = more profit, the instructors get more seat time and more satisfying work and the students get higher quality training! There is no down side to making good quality training easier. I’ve been in aviation for 20 years and I’ve honed a lot of my craft to ensure that I can be the most effective flight instructor possible, yet there still much to learn. All decent instruction comes from the instructor / student relationship. The instructor is responsible for adapting to the student needs, and finding ways to not only keep the student engaged but truly bring the material alive. Its essential that flight instructors are driven to excellence…..and of course enjoy their job.My core values when it comes to work and to life is based around communication, leadership, teamwork and excellence. Chief Flight InstructorSynergy Aviation Ltd. Jul 2019 - Mar 2020Edmonton, Alberta, CanadaThis position with the Company was one I absolutely loved. Being Chief Flight instructor setting up a one of a kind school to take students from Zero to frozen Airline Transport Pilot inside of 12 months. The company is owned and led by an amazing team of partners who have a vision for the future that will change flight training in Canada. Due to flight school closures caused by COVID-19 - the school was required to temporarily close much of its functions and I believe they will come out of this stronger and healthier than any other. -
Executive Aircraft Sales And AppraisalsAircraft Canada Aug 2013 - Mar 2017Calgary, CanadaAt Aircraft Canada I had the great pleasure of working with and learning from Lorne Gray. A Senior Aircraft Sales and Appraisal Specialist who helped me learn and grow within the Aircraft sales and appraisal profession. Lorne was patient and kind as I learned a new area of aviation and he guided me through many mistakes and challenges. Lorne has forgotten more about Aircraft sales and networking than I will ever know and I could not be more grateful for the opportunity to learn from him.
