Selected as a recipient of the Carmen Pettapiece Research Fellowship and Grant for my project titled, “The Role of Spinal Cord Processing of Sensory Input in Maintaining Movement Evoked Breakthrough Pain.” My project uses a mouse model to test the hypothesis that spinal lidocaine will prevent the maintenance of movement evoked breakthrough pain in cancer patients with skeletal metastases. For this project, I have also been awarded funding from the Kahn Family Foundation as a reward for excellence in the Neuroscience field.

Served as a student host for 160 gifted high school students considering pursuing a career in medicine. I held workshops where these students were presented with a respiratory system lecture, and gained hands on experience in suturing, osteopathic manipulative medicine, taking a detailed history of present illness, and worked through a case study.

Collected relevant patient information and vital signs, assisted and performed several procedures and exams including Fine Needle Aspirations of thyroid nodules, Continuous Glucose Monitoring System insertions, Sudomotor Exams for diabetic neuropathy, Basal Metabolic Rate exams, Cosyntropin Stimulation tests, and Blood Glucose levels. I served as a liaison between pharmacies, insurance companies, physicians and patients. I was responsible for educating patients about thyroid-related conditions, diabetes-mellitus, proper medication use, and diabetic supply use. Once weekly, on top of regular duties, I worked as a scribe for Nurse Practitioner, Dr. Frank Albano.

Responsible for the creation and maintenance of patient charts, collecting vital signs, performing Basal Metabolic Rate exams, electrocardiograms, and insertion of Continuous Glucose Monitoring Systems. I was responsible for furthering patient education, served as a liaison between pharmacies, insurance companies, physicians, and patients. Responsible for performing special weight loss procedures such as i-Lipo, Lipo Light and Contour Light. Frequently shadowed Dr. Daryl Perlman as he completed rounds at Plainview Hospital, where we discussed symptoms, diagnosis and treatment plans for each patient. I also ran the website and Instagram account for the Weight Loss Clinic.

Assisted in obtaining and screening research participants. Involved in helping run multiple experiments on designing and testing gait rehabilitation devices. Some of these devices were designed to monitor walking patterns in order to detect signs of gait deterioration or instability. Others were designed to help patients recover walking function after a neurological injury. One project of significance I had been greatly involved in was testing a device to study and enhance the propulsion aspect of gait, amongst stroke patients with hemiparesis. Also responsible for cleaning and analyzing data from multiple experiments using MATLAB software.

Appointed to aid in the educational and daily functional activities for a high school student with autism, while working in concert with the classroom teacher and speech language pathologists to maximize the student's potential. Duties entailed physically assisting the student with tasks such as eating, using the restroom, riding the bus and moving from one classroom to another. Furthermore, I prepared learning resources, assisted during speech therapy sessions, recognized and acted appropriately to signs of distress and completed records while providing feedback.

In charge of running transcranial Low Frequency Magnetic Stimulation (LFMS) experiments. Responsible for screening and gathering research participants and setting up electroencephalography (EEG) for the participants as well as running the LFMS machine during the experiment. The purpose of this experiment was to study the effect of transcranial LFMS on the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex on mood and feelings of happiness. This study was also used for the detection and handling of stimulation artifacts during simultaneous EEG and transcranial LFMS. I also attended weekly meetings where we discussed current and upcoming experiments in the lab and pertinent published research articles.

Initially began as a cashier. I had worked my way up to Assistant Manager of the largest flagship store location of 25+ associates in the Northeast region of the company. Responsibilities included organizing the daily schedule, assigning and overseeing employee tasks, addressing and resolving customer service issues, training new employees, providing leadership and direction to all employees, taking disciplinary action when necessary, motivating employees, ensuring that health and safety rules were followed, organizing and reporting accurate financial statements, and supporting the store manager as needed.

Appointed as the sole undergraduate Teaching Assistant for "Psychology 111: Introduction to Psychology". Responsible for holding office hours twice weekly, communicating with students via Blackboard and e-mail, administering and grading exams while collaborating with the University Testing Center, and updating Blackboard for approximately 500 undergraduate students.

Developed and analyzed sociological and psychological hypotheses about Binghamton University's School of Management students via survey based research. Aided in coding and running statistical analyses in SPSS software.
