I started working at University Health Conway on 6/1/1998. I began on 4 South, which was the telemetry floor at that time, working the night shift for about 4 years. I learned a lot about nursing and telemetry during that time. I began working in the OPC in 2002, where I worked for about 4 years. The OPC in an adult clinic with multiple services such as Medicine, Surgery, Orthopedics, Urology. Rheumatology. I left there and went to Family Practice where I worked for about 4 years. Family Practice is where the residents come to learn how to work in a clinic setting. We did everything in FPC that would be expected in any clinic setting. For the first 2 years while there we did circumcisions in the office. I assisted in pap smears, gave shots, drew blood, started IVs, triaged, assisted the Drs with anything needed. The end of 2011 I left LSUMC and went to work on a 16 bed step down unit where I supervised CNAs. The name of this facility is Alpine Guest Care. I worked there for exactly 6 months then returned to LSUMC where I began work in Utilization Review in April of 2011. This job is where you review charts and make sure that the patient meets the criteria to be in the hospital. I had to work closely to the Drs and also Insurance companies, as well as magellin and other healthcare providers. On 4/1/12 I went to work in CS, where I supervised employees who sterilized surgical instruments and basically cleaned everything that came in contact with the pts. On October 1, 2013 we were taken over by BRFHH. They named us "University Health-Conway". I moved from CS back to UR. Perhaps this is where I will ride it out til I retire. Hmmmm, we will see.
