Provide nursing professional development and education services by assisting nurses in preparing for contemporary practice and supporting them in acquiring the knowledge and skills so that they can competently collect patient health data, analyze the data to determine diagnoses, identify expected outcomes individualized to the patient, develop a plan of care that prescribesinterventions to attain the expected outcomes, implement the interventions identified in the plan of care, and evaluate the patient’s progress toward attainment of the outcomes in the medical/surgical care settings. Responsible for Intra-Op, Operating Room, PACU, and Endoscopy education services.

25 surgical suite, full service, Level 1 Trauma, Operating Room. Duties include documentation, assessment, and surgical assistance for surgery. Provided care to patients in multiple surgical specialty areas including ENT, Urology, General surgical procedures, Orthopedics, and Gynecologic procedures. Skills include phlebotomy, intravenous care and maintenance, medication administration, wound care, laboratory specimen handling, blood transfusion, and direct patient care. Professional care of patients preparing for surgery, safety and care of patients during surgery, and safety and care of patients after surgery and in transfer to the post-anesthesia care unit. Provide effective communication between staff members, surgeons, family and physicians to provide effective quality of care. Act as resource in the Gynecological surgery field for peers and other staff to assist in appropriate management in the care of the gynecological patient. Skilled as surgical scrub nurse and circulating nurse in the operating room.-Clinical Team Leader for OR Education department, mentor and preceptor to a variety of students and new employees to the operating room. Responsible for Orientation to operating room for nursing students, physician assistants, medical students and residents. Daily use of EPIC, electronic medical record program. Development of training education pathway for orientation to the operating room. Responsible for providing in-service sessions to the staff of the O.R. for mandatory compliance of policy and procedures for safety of staff and patients. Participate in Camps and Outreach to medical school and public schools.
